2025 MINISTRY EXAM PREPARATION
Is your child getting ready for the Secondary 5 English Ministry exam? We've gathered the key information, including exam dates, evaluation criteria, authorized materials, and helpful resources to support their preparation.
Exam Information
Exam dates
The 2025 English Ministry exam schedule varies depending on whether your child is in the core program or the enriched program.
Core program
Between May 14 and June 12, students receive a preparation booklet. In teams of four, they then discuss the texts to deepen their understanding. This discussion also serves as the oral evaluation.
The written production exam will take place on June 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Enriched program
Students will receive their preparation booklet between May 22 and 29. Between May 30 and June 4, they will listen to an audio recording and discuss it, along with the texts they’ve read, to ensure a thorough understanding of the topic.
The written production exam will take place on June 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Objectives
Core program
Your child will write a 225-word opinion article in English, intended for a web magazine.
For the oral component, your child will engage in a 15-minute group discussion in English. They will be evaluated on clarity, thoughtfulness, and fluency.
Enriched program
Your child will write a 400-word feature article in English on a current issue or trend.

- Grammar reference or grammar code
- Paper dictionaries: English, bilingual, and synonym dictionaries
